Updates from Disputed and the chargeback intelligence space.

IndustryApril 2026

VAMP enforcement tightened April 1, 2026 — merchant Excessive threshold drops to 1.5%

Visa's April 2026 threshold change is now in effect. The merchant Excessive threshold has dropped from 2.2% to 1.5% across the US, Canada, EU, and Asia-Pacific — meaning merchants who were previously in a gray zone are now formally classified as Excessive and subject to $8/event fines.

Enterprise fraud teams should audit their current TC40 + TC15 combined ratio against settled CNP volume now. The dispute response link is often underestimated: winning disputes with compelling evidence removes qualifying transactions from the VAMP numerator.

Disputed.ai Secures $1.12M in Seed Funding to Transform AI-Powered Chargeback Management

Portland-based Disputed.ai has closed a $1.12M seed round to accelerate development of its enterprise chargeback intelligence platform. The funding will support product development, enterprise customer acquisition, and team growth.

"We've seen firsthand how broken the chargeback ecosystem is for enterprise merchants," said CEO Shawn Kelley. "This capital lets us build the platform we always wished existed when we were on the other side of the table."

Disputed was founded by Shawn Kelley, former Head of Payments at SeatGeek, and Andrew Hart, former Enterprise Platform Engineering Lead at SeatGeek. The team built the platform to address a gap they experienced directly: enterprise-scale chargeback programs that require both operational intelligence and flexible deployment.
